cheap(er) chic: pillow inspired palettes

Woke up this morning to yet another gray sky and pouring rain--not exactly the weather one hopes for in June. It was quite painful to once again be bundling up in the muted colors of my fall wardrobe and would much rather be wearing the color palettes of madelines weinrib's cheerful suzani pillows.

cheap(er) chic: gingham + gold

When I was in college my style would have been best described as preppy but as I have gotten older (and since I have lived in Wyoming) I have tried my best to pull away . To be honest, I have a hard time doing this in the warmer months. Thankfully, I have finally found a combination that satisfies my preppy tendencies while being more sophisticated--gingham print mixed with classic gold pieces.

cheap(er) chic {memorial day must haves}

The fact that snow is currently coming down makes it hard to imagine that memorial day is just around the corner. We have truly had some crazy spring weather here in Jackson. I am just hoping that by the weekend it will warm up enough for me to pull out a white dress and pair it with colorful accessories. I thought this brightly accented kitchen was the perfect inspiration for such a look.

kate spade idiom bangle ($78), michael kors straw clutch ($178), virginia johnson shawl ($195), paloma barcelo flats ($195) and dvf linen tunic($245),
To be honest I built the whole outfit around the shoes-they are pretty lovely, no? Also, I have finally created a facebook page for delight by design where I plan to post additional content and inspirational photo galleries.

cheaper chic {prairie perfect}

It has been way too long since I have put together a cheap(er) chic post! It is always fun to lust over lanvin and ogle oscar de la renta but there are so many stylish + less expensive options. I thought I would ease back into this series with a wallet friendly prairie chic looks.

cheap(er) chic: table covering

I think the decor that I was most stressed about for Thanksgiving was a table covering. I looked at all the local stores and really didn't want to spend an arm and a leg for a one time use tablecloth. So I actually wound up buying this burlap runner (as featured on style me pretty!) for a very reasonable price. However, if that fell though I was truly tempted to just use kraft paper.

It is inexpensive table covering option and definitely won't need to be immediately treated when stained with red wine.

What will you be dressing your table with this year!

cheap(er) chic [subtle metallic]

It has been a little too long since I have done a cheap(er) chic post so I thought I would try to bring my current cravings down to reality with items inspired by two very dreamy and whimsical spaces.

cheap(er) chic: casual glamour

Casual glamour is definitely a difficult balance to strike--it is all about a few luxurious touches mixed with organic and understated elements. I think this space and cheap(er) chic clothing pieces perfectly embody that mix...

Plus I love any room or outfit that has a splash of turquoise! And love the use of screens in this dining/living area.

cheap(er) chic: basic black + white

For the transitional period between summer and Fall when it is not quite time to pull out the corduroy whale skirt but the searsucker pants no longer seem appropriate, I recommend black and white pieces to get you through. Some of my favorite options that are all under $225...

(alice+ olivia shirt, 3.1. phillip lim accordion necklace, headband from anthropologie, pucci wallet, kate spade flats, maje striped cotton dress)
And it seems that I am partial to black and white pieces that also feature bows!

cheap(er) chic home solution: curtain call

Do you have a rental that you aren't allowed to paint, trying to compartmentalize the spaces in a loft or just looking for a fun and cheap way to brighten up your room but not ready to commit to that pomegranate red just yet? Curtains used in an unconventional are a great way to achieve all these goals. They can separate rooms effortlessly and are such a fun and whimsical wall treatment!

Would you consider or have you used curtains in your home for purposes other than window dressing?

cheap(er) chic {golden neutrals}

All the ranchers here in Jackson have been haying their fields and I just love the color of the hay when it is all bailed up. Which got me thinking that the golden hue of the hay is the perfect color to wear for the hot nights of August.

(calypso dress, marc jacobs flats, bottega veneta dress, Rhianna lingham necklace, flats from anthropologie flats, clutch from kate spade)
It can add a softness and sophistication to almost any look!

cheap(er) chic : powder blue + almond

There is something so refreshing, natural and lovely about the color combination of powder blue and almond--especially when touches of gold are added. Which is why it is the combination of colors in this week's cheaper(er) chic. It just makes me want to go sit on my deck, drink wine and relax!

(paul & joe sister mini dress, calypso-celle scarf, anthropologie earrings, raffia clutch by hat attack, marc jacobs pocket dress, chaiken top, nine west flats)
Also, very excited about my {country couture} wedding decor guest post over and Weddings Fresh!

cheap(er) chic: tribal style

With the warmer weather finally staying around here in Jackson Hole I am beginning to embrace the trends of summer and none more than tribal chic. As a lover of embellishments and bold colors this style is right up my alley, particularly when there are such beautiful and affordable options!

(dvf dress, dvf earrings, giuseppe zanotti heels, giles and brother necklace, stella mccartney messenger bag)
I have to say that I don't typically wear heels--but these are just calling my name! What is your favorite summer trend?
