Every Little Thing

I have an ever growing appreciation for the little things...
...and am determined to make each moment count!

Texture background by Kim Klassen...

Spending time with my parents at the lake these last summer days...
...I am so appreciative of this gift of time...

It was a beautiful weekend here in the mountains...
I hope the week ahead brings all good things!

Ruffled and Lacy White Flowers

Our white iris are blooming!

Aren't these ruffled petals so beautiful?

We have a lot of romantic white flowers in our yard this spring...

It seems as if it would be the perfect place for an outdoor wedding...

I found this milk can at the sale across the street last weekend...

...and these two silver baby spoons at a yard sale...

Wait! Is that a bride I see?

...or a ghost?

I think Starla is playing hide and seek!

Hope your week is going well..
So far I've done some organizing as well as some painting and even a little crafting too!

Delicate

As much as I love the rustic, the rough and industrial look...
...I do have a feminine and romantic side...

I'm just saying...

The snow is starting to melt and I'm hoping by the weekend it will disappear....
...looking forward to having some time to do some arranging and take a few new pictures.

....There are some fun things happening this month... a few trips in the works ...some family birthdays...HAPPY BIRTHDAY to sister LYNN...TODAY!
...a big flea market down south...
... and girlfriend Evi will be participating in an Antique and Juried Craft Show in New Jersey.

Before you know it ....April will be here....my regular flea markets start up, crocuses and daffodils and tulips and violets will appear...
...there will be antiquing trips and visits to Paula and the Connecticut girls and TIME....

...and hopefully....no more snow!

:) I shall sleep so soundly thinking of all that fun! Good night!

Simple Things

Simple things...
...make my heart sing!

Tomorrow night we expect a snow storm!
Do you know what that means?

It means Saturday morning we will sleep in (at least till 7am...)
...drink several cups of steaming hot coffee and be cozy and warm...

Then Santa Baby a.k.a. Mr. 52 a.k.a. Rob... will go out to play in the snow (er...shovel a little)
... and maybe...instead of doing chores...
I will bake a little, craft a little and make some Valentine magic...

What makes your heart sing?

Found: Raw Materials at the Elephant's Trunk

Up at the crack of dawn this morning...couldn't get Rob to accompany me to the Elephant's Trunk flea....probably because I wouldn't go with him yesterday to see "The Hunchback of Notre Dame" ....It was just as well....I found and brought home several things that he would have rolled his eyes at...He has trouble seeing my vision for things in their "raw" state.

First, I picked up this old red iron pulley....love the rich color..
...and I'm thinking Christmas display...

Next, I found these silver wine baskets....perfect to give as part of a gift after they are cleaned up... with a bottle of wine and a beautiful ribbon. Also found... the tin cake pan for a dollar and two sweet silver spoons....

This definitely would have received an eye roll and the infamous question, "what are you going to do with that ?"...
But I LOVE it...and I know exactly what I'm going to do with it....

This is the back side of the metal cabinet....all the drawers lift up and out and separate from each other...many tiny compartments inside....The printing says "Genuine Parts" and "Carter".
What would you do with it?

Isn't it wonderful? I've moved past Halloween so quickly....and Christmas is on my mind....such a beautiful worn red velvet photo album! It is small, only 5 inches by 6 inches and will be perfect in a small Christmas vignette...Don't you love the brass pieces decorating the cover?

There are twenty wonderful old photographs inside....most of them babies!!!

This little cardboard suitcase is only a foot long....It has the name Kathy scrawled on it in childish handwriting ..definetely tugged at my heartstrings...

Love the black stripe, the navy plastic handle, the silver stars on the paper lining the inside...
I can see it full of Christmas ornaments...and....well....you will have to wait for that!

...a colorful tin top to add to my vintage toy collection

Have a cowboy theme going on in Dan's room at the lake house...much to his dismay...

As soon as I spied this old box on the "Everything is a dollar" table...I KNEW it would be mine and that it would be filled with my kind of thing...

I wasn't disappointed....laces, old velvet ribbon, seam binding, etc. (yippee!)

A sweet little butter pat...

OK, now this mystery piece was $5 and Rob would never have understood this...in fact he still hasn't seen it...It was full of dirt and spiders and you almost couldn't tell that it had a glass front...

Twelve little compartments, big enough for a butter pat...

Any idea what its purpose was?
I did a preliminary wash down with the hose outside...

Cool right? Now tell me how you would use it and where!!!

It was a fun autumn morning...not as many dealers as I would have liked as it rained last night into the early hours...but by the time I left to go home at 9:15 am ...the sun was shining!
Happy Day!
My friend Zita from Mlle. Magpie suggested I join in with Clara and Marcela from Cottage Charm and Family Inspiration for their Junkin Monday party where everyone shows their weekend finds! Sounds like my kind of fun!
