Look for the Silver Lining!

I spent the day shredding old documents and throwing out an amazing accumulation of stuff....
...geez...I'm such a saver...even at the office!

These silvery photos are from my "archives"...
...actually from earlier posts.

My life is in transition! One door is closing...
...I just know that other doors and windows are waiting to be opened!

...that's the silver lining!...

Look for the silver lining
When e'er a cloud appears in the blue.
Remember some where the sun is shining,
And so the right thing to do,
Is make it shine for you.

A heart, full of joy and gladness,
Will always banish sadness and strife.
So always look for the silver lining,
And try to find the sunny side of life.

Saying goodbye to so many coworkers and friends was difficult yesterday but we all made it through! Thank you for your kind words and support. My heart is filled with gratitude for my many blessings!
...and for all of my blogging friends too!

Hoping to have some fresh pictures for you tomorrow!

Hearts and Hope

Wikipedia tells us that the heart has long been used as a symbol to refer to the spiritual, emotional, moral and even intellectual core of a human being. As the heart was once widely believed to be the seat of the human mind, the word heart continues to be used poetically to refer to the soul, and stylized depictions of hearts are extremely prevalent symbols representing love...

I am gathering bits and pieces to try to create a little art and some favors for Valentine's day...

Pretty lace doilies, bits of red and pink ribbons and papers...

Looking through my vintage Valentine's Day cards and postcards...

It feels good to be rummaging through my collections...thinking about my friends and family, how much I love them and how fun it is to try to please and delight them...

...and while I do this my husband is in the next room watching TV and ...
...I hear the continuing coverage of the terrible situation in Haiti...

...where people are still holding on to hope...

Hearts and Hope for our friends in Haiti...

I hope that the week ahead brings some good news in the relief effort to those suffering people.
As I go about my comfortable life, keenly aware of my many blessings, I will keep the people of Haiti in my prayers and do what I can to help.

I hope that it is a peaceful and calm week for each of you.

Layers

Playing with some photos from recent posts...photos of pretty things....buttons, hydrangeas, clock faces, netting ...
Playing with the multiple exposure option in my photo editing program....
Layers of prettiness ....
I don't really know anything about photography....just trying to be a little artistic here...
Can't decide if it is pretty or if I should stick to my day job.
It's fun to play!
Lunch with Paula and Evi at Wilton tomorrow!

Vintage Black Friday 2

A few vintage black items to share....
...a 50's purse, a black velvet hat with netting and rhinestones

An old recording...a fox trot!

Starla...what have you found there in that little black leather box?

It's a sweet little jewelry box that I forgot I had...
... tucked away in a drawer and filled with tiny treasures...

Beautiful buttons, bits and bobs, a rhinestone buckle and pin...

An old button hook and a little brass case...

An old rosary...

A rhinestone brooch in the shape of the letter F....
...maybe this little black leather box belonged to my great aunt FiFi....

What a surprise to find this tiny religious icon in the little brass case...

Over Active Imagination

This pair of gold leaf bookends was found at the thrift store this week for $2.50....they are marked Made in Italy on the bottom....
As I looked over my flea market finds and collections this weekend....my imagination got caught up in the eerie and uncomfortable season of late October and Halloween...

Unusual objects came together to tell their own haunting story...

I think I am scaring myself.
