Pumpkins Galore!

Our local farm had pumpkins galore!

These, even though orange....poor things... were somehow exciting to see...
...as they brought back happy memories of good times Trick or Treating as a kid.

But, alas....orange.

I loved these big squishy Cinderella gourds...
...even if they are a bit orangy...

Eureka!
White Pumpkins!

Although, three times as expensive as the ones I am sure I will eventually find up in the mountains...I had to bring one or two home with me.

And, these two were perfect...
and white!

A few baby boos...

A trio of little white and pale green gourds...

Another Boo for You!

Mission Accomplished!

Let the fall decorating begin!

I did my little Saturday Vintage Finds post over at The Inspiration Studio...
...found some pretty cool things on Etsy this week!

Mosaic Monday - Glorious Autumn

What a glorious warm and sunny autumn Sunday!

I prefer the softer colors of autumn....

But there is no denying the amazing beauty of the autumn foliage against clear blue skies...

I hope your weekend was restful and that the week ahead is full of all good things!
This is the first Mosaic Monday that I have participated in...
...to see more participants please visit Mary at Little Red House.

Faded Blue Hydrangea

Loving the last faded blooms of our hydrangeas...
...the colors of summer now softer...yielding to autumn's palette.

...soon enough we will be in the season of sparkle and magic!
Hope you are enjoying a calm and relaxing weekend...
Take care, Laura

The Frost is on the Pumpkin!

I took these pictures the other day while home on lunch hour...it was sunny but cool...a perfect autumn afternoon...

The air felt crisp and clear...
...but things change so quickly...
...it's hard to believe that today was cold with freezing rain and even some snow!

I found this beautiful book by Hayward Young at a church sale this past spring...
...the same sale where we found those beautiful old stained glass doors...

It contains beautiful full page colored illustrations...

It's too soon for the frost to be on the pumpkin!!
I hope it warms up again and we have some more crisp and clear beautiful fall weather before winter moves in...

Think I will be nesting this weekend....
...looking forward to a few calm and restful days...and hope the same for you!

Autumn Days and Acorn Squash

The cooler weather is causing me to think in terms of comfort food
.... Perhaps I will fix acorn squash with cinnamon and butter tomorrow....and maybe Rob can bring home a sweet potato pie from Conklin's Orchards....
...don't you just love the fall?

5 White Pumpkins, 17 Metal Drawers and a Fruitcake

It was beautiful yesterday on our drive up to the lake....

The foliage is changing color and autumn is upon us in all its glory...

We stopped at a farm stand where we found the white pumpkins I love so much...
....you know how I feel about orange!

Not far past the farm stand we saw a sign that said BARN SALE.....
....Miraculously, Rob agreed to make the turn and follow the signs to the sale..

There really wasn't too much there but I spied this old set of metal drawers marked $3 and I knew I had to have it...
I also knew Rob would make "that face"...
So while he was looking over the old John Wayne videos...I gave the elderly gentleman the $3 for the 17 drawers... (so what if one is missing...no problem!)

It all worked out fine after a few negotiations (with Rob)...
As a bonus (?) one of the drawers even came full of rusty nuts and bolts!

My ever so cooperative and agreeable husband also stopped at one of my favorite antique shops along the way and I found this old tin...Smith's White Fruit Cake....how appropriate...

It was a happy fall Saturday and after we arrived at the lake house, I kept up my end of the bargain and we even got a lot of outside work done!

Hope your weekend was good....Getting ready for another week of work!
Take care, Laura :)
