eye candy {playful restraint}
It is always fascinating to see the homes of interior design professionals (like the one of Susan Hornbeak Ortiz, owner of Shine by S.H.O.) and see which colors, trends, textures, styles and textiles they choose as they are so immersed in the world on a daily basis. Susan shows great restraint in her home. It is not overdecorated and features unique textures and touches--from the cabinetry details, perfect peacock color palette, studding on furniture and whimsical lighting.

late summer sun + stunning details
As the summer winds down the light of the afternoon sun seems to cast a little bit softer light and the rays feels all the more sweet. These images capture that perfectly and it creates such a lovely backdrop to the unique and decorative chandelier of this attic space and the exquisite cutout detail of the Roberto Cavalli's dress.

eye candy {bathed in light}
After coming home from work last night to rain and dark storm clouds I am overjoyed to once again have sun streaming through my home. Amazing how a little bright light can instantly brighten my mood. However, it does make all the dog hair on my floor show, but oh well! Now if only this was where I was currently blogging by day light...

whimsical lighting {paper lanterns}
In general I am confident about which trends I like and don't like quite quickly. However, paper lanterns used indoors was one that took a while to warm up too. I have seen them used for a while now and I had loved them for events and on the patio but in your bedroom or kitchen!? Well, I am a convert. Lately I find every room featuring them both lovely and whimsical.

Do you think that paper lanterns should be brought inside?
