morning eye candy {moroccan magic}

I don't think someone could walk though this doorway and not find instant serenity. This is one of the more beautiful Moroccan inspired entryways I have come across. I love the use of the gauzy curtain with just that hint of blue, single blooms on the sill, whimsical shell sink and the rustic Moroccan light fixture. All of the elements work together beautifully to create a room that seems almost magical.

inspiration {portholes + dories}

Ok, I wasn't planning on posting again before the weekend but when I came across this bathroom I just could not wait until Monday. And this simple (and stunning) bathroom seemed like the perfect place to start a relaxing weekend. I love the nautical inspiration --the washed and worn board remind me of a charming dory that washed up on the beach and then the lovely portholesque cut outs!

charming clawfoot

Even after having a three day weekend I still feel like I haven't completely recouped and refreshed for the coming work week. Perhaps a nice long soak and a claw footed tub would do the trick...

immersed in bubbles

Well, it is here...that white stuff called snow. All I want to do is cozy up in a beautiful claw foot tub immersed in bubbles by a roaring fire. For the moment a cup of hot chamomile tea will just have to do!

rest + renewal

Wow, storm clouds really are great motivation to get up and down from hiking the local buttes quickly! I just made it up one of my favorites in record time but now my body is exhausted. A nice hot soak in this lovely tiled tub sounds perfect right now.

And would I am sure I would instantly be rejuvenated after collapsing in this bedroom.

Hope you are having a lovely evening! Be back and hopefully fully recovered tomorrow.

loving {wall of mirrors}

Looking to create a unique and impacting look in your bathroom without renovation? I am smitten with the idea of having not just one mirror over the sink but many. Adds such fun visual interest and will distract the eye from any flaws the space may have.

while I am on the topic...

...aren't the girlish polka dot tiles in this bathroom adorable?

primping in symmetry

I have feeling that I am not the only one who spends more time in front of the mirror primping for New Years Eve than most nights of the year. Adding all the extra glitz and sparkle takes time! And I wouldn't mind spending that extra time in one of these perfectly symmetrical (and lovely) bathrooms.

I think the bathroom is one room where symmetry seems natural and easily achieved.

eye candy {evening soak}

Mondays never fail to be a hectic day at the office and today was especially so. All I want to do is turn my mind off, read the latest issue of House Beautiful and take a long soak in this glamorous (and perfect!) bathroom.

Yes, I think that would do the trick quite nicely! I am truly such a sucker for any room using antique mirror.

Review of the Details

This afternoon I had a long conversation with my dear friend Evi, the dollmaker ....she is busy preparing for a show next month. Speaking with her reminded me of her amazing talents and attention to detail in all that she creates and in the decorating of her beautiful home...
This collage consists of a few pictures taken in a guest bathroom in her home...
(click images to enlarge)

The wonderful treasure found in those two cigar boxes a few weeks ago....I can't wait to find a few hours to sort through these fabulous rosaries and religious medals, clean and polish them and put them to use as embellishments in art projects and decorating....
What would you do with them?

A few more details and vignettes found in Evi's home...
She is a master at finding unique antique treasure and then incorporating those finds into her elegant, eclectic European styled home...
I can't wait to see the new dolls and other creations she will be exhibiting at the show!
Hope your day tomorrow brings all good things!

perfect blend

Every once and while there are those homes and rooms that are the perfect balance--of light and dark; modern and traditional; casual and glamorous-all topped off with the perfect dash of color. This home, especially the stunning living room, is just that...

And why have just one chandelier in your bathroom when you could have three!? Hope you are all having a lovely Sunday!
