perfect recipe {clay + terra cotta}
Alright, those of you who love interior design will understand it when I say that a well designed room can really make you feel euphoric. It is the same way I feel when I perfectly execute a new or challenging entree recipe (which is rare!). And for my neutral loving side the mix of terra cotta and clay in these rooms make me feel downright giddy--then mix it in impeccable styling and euphoria sets in...

slouchy chic {heidi merrick}
Heidi Merrick just launched a new website and along with the launch was the premiere of her Spring 2011 collection. It is the perfect mix of casual and sophisticated with her usual whimsical flair. The collection has pieces perfect play and work.

clean slate {of curtains}
The beginning of a new year is the perfect time for a clean slate in every aspect of your life--a blank new calendar (which I just realized I don't have!), an revamp of your wardrobe or a fresh look in your home. And a fresh look in your home does not mean a major overhaul--it can be something simple like adding a crisp cream curtain along a wall to cover up an old wall color or simply to add texture, as in this home designed by Vincente Wolf. Even these little things make a world of difference.

I am also just crazy about the proportions of this light fixture to the dining room table and the way the mirror hangs against the pleats of the curtain.

oh, erin martin...
House Beautiful has shaken up the magazine a bit lately with a new editor and new features-I have to say I like it! It does help that a home designed by one of my favorites, Erin Martin, was featured in the latest issue. Her attention to detail is always inspiring--the chains hanging in the fireplace especially delight me.

a moment of calm
I am flying back to Wyoming tomorrow and already feel anxious about stepping foot on the plane. However, this lovely home designed by Phoebe Howard instantly provided a moment of calm. It is everything I love about the spaces she creates and you know that I just love neutrals. She did a great job creating a both elegant and inviting home.

simple styling + natural elements
What better way to start the week than with a few refreshing, neutral and simple interiors. As much as I love playing with colorful paint swatches I will always gravitate towards the whites, creams and grays when looking for a clean look.

home tour {elsa peretti}
The creations of elsa peretti are the epitome of organic and simple design. So it comes as no surprise that her retreat outside of Barcelona embodies those qualities as well. I am completely drawn to the cozy sensibility. Hmm...wonder if she would rent it to me for the off season.

glamorous neutrals
Looking back on my week of posts it seems there is a common theme--neutral and natural spaces. I will never grow bored of them. There is a calm and understated glamour that only a neutral palette full of layered texture can provide. The same rings true for my favorite staples for this spring...

lovely opposites {warm and cool}
This has felt like a very long week and these images filled with soft cool tones and dreamy warm shades are a welcome relief. There is just such a rejuvenating effect to this seemingly opposite and subtle combination.

weekly dose {cool neutrals+chandeliers}
After a very hectic Monday, and really a busy few weeks, I find something incredibly soothing about cool neutral interiors--especially those with rustic charm and the sparkle of a chandelier.
Yes, I can already feel my headache subside. Now time to get ready for another social evening celebrating a friends 30th! Hope you had a lovely start to your week.

much needed serenity
It was one of those weekends where I hardly had a moment at home--between art gallery walks, saki and sushi, college football and a run for charity it has been a bit of hectic although very enjoyable weekend. I think these serene and amazingly neutral spaces would be perfect ones to unwind from the weekend festivities.(via john coolidge, canadian house and home, john coolidge, pieter estersohn, kara mann)

loving {neutral design + branches}
One of my favorite inexpensive touches to add to a room is a vase of branches. They hold up better than flowers and I am currently in love with the wonderful warmth and texture they add to neutral rooms.

I also also crazy about the simple styling of these tabletops. Hope you all had a lovely day!

current style {relaxed elegance}
I am so often asked what my favorite style is and the truth is that it is ever changing and this summer it is absolutely relaxed elegance--for both the home and the closet. I think that this outdoor space perfectly defines this style--just love the multi color wood flooring, crisp white curtain panels and the touches of copper.

(via elle interior)
And I thought that this white linen dress, copper toned earrings, amber hued cuff and a simple bone clutch would create the perfect outfit to enjoy this breezy outdoor space.

And this lovely indoor space is a close second place for what I imagine relaxed elegance translating too, the subdued colors and slouchy pillows are just so incredibly inviting.

(scanned from elle decoration)
Of course I couldn't leave this space without a matching ensemble and I think that this effortlessly chic dress, beautifully embellished scarf paired with a simple bracelet and sparkly sandals would do wonderfully.

Do you change your favorite style as much as me? Hope you all had a wonderful weekend and happy Monday.
